Unemployment

Unemployment was one of the ten reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire. Unemployment is the process of not working or having a job. Some farmers had to pay men to work and tend their crops while slave owners had free labor. The farmers with no slaves paid more money to produce crops. The slave owners could sell their crops for cheaper prices and earn more customers. Buyers would purchase cheaper crops and an abundance of farmers who had higher labor costs went out of business. With only a small group of farmers producing crops, there was  less crops grown which meant more hungry people. In the Roman Empire there were more than 10,000 men that were unemployed (Fall of the Roman Empire). Unemployment was a major reason for the Fall of the Roman Empire.
